Mac/Windows/Linux Cloud Backup!

SpiderOak Online Back-up and Syncing in the CloudSo SpiderOak has been working EXTREMELY well for me lately. I have it installed on my Mac, Windows and Linux and it syncs all three computers flawlessly. I had to ditch SugarSync because they don’t support Linux. I am a fan of SugarSync in many ways, however the syncing drove me nuts.

The beauty was SpiderOak was effortless to install and sync across platforms after watching a 3 minute video. I’d say it took me 10 minutes to sync all three computers. I got tired of SugarSync and Dropbox syncing issues (duplication drove me nuts!) Yes, SugerSync and Dropbox do have iPhone apps, but I used that feature rarely. Chances are if I needed to send a client files, I had better jump on my laptop.

Finally, I like SpiderOak’s privacy policy. They won’t ever have access to your files and they make a strong commitment to never question your content. It’s good to know a company that supports complete privacy.

In conclusion, I say give’em a try if you want seamless, online backup done right!

Try SpiderOak now!

  1. Very interesting – i like that you seem to be able to just select what folders you want synced, rather than being given a dedicated sync folder (is that accurate?). It’d be a little tough to move from dropbox since it’s so ingrained at work, but this might be great for just my personal stuff. Nice find Steve!

  2. Correcto Jeff; you get to designate the sync folders. SpiderOak is also much cheaper than the competition and offers over 100 gigs, unlike Dropbox.

  3. Nice find, I wonder how reputable is this company?
Have you tried restoring something? Speed/file size?
    Thanks, will check them out.

  4. Try out the free trial. I have not had to restore yet, which I should try. However, I have synced all my computers and that gives me peace of mind for now. Let me know if you try this.
